Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to attend the User Experience Professionals Association (UxPA) conference in Las Vegas at the M Resort. The conference was well attended with over 500 participants from all over the world.
The big news was shared the first day that the Usability Professionals Association was formally changing their name to the User Experience Professionals Association. This caused quite a discussion both at the conference and on Twitter for the rest of the week.
I had the opportunity to present with Carol Smith on the topic of Putting Personas to Work. The session was well attended and we spoke about how creating a good persona is just the beginning. They need to be recognized and relied on by the entire team. Creating a successful persona program can be a huge challenge. We shared about strategies for making sure that the personas you create become essential to your team.
One of the better sessions I attended was a panel discussion, “5 Rules for Mentoring New User Experience Professionals.” The discussion was great and the tips were very practical.
The venue, the M Resort, was a beautiful place. The hotel had an amazing pool and the rooms were first rate. The food was outstanding and the staff was very friendly.
